We are performing as part of Kings Place’s Venus Unwrapped year-long festival celebrating women in music, with a concert featuring a new piece of music by our composer Kate Whitley.

With Ravel’s beautiful song settings of the symbolist ‘Trois Poèmes de Stéphane Mallarmé’ sung by soprano Sarah-Jane Lewis, alongside a new set of love songs written specifically for the event by Kate and poet Sabrina Mahfouz  (‘In quite a different league…She speaks lyrically and powerfully.’ Times), the performance will also include poetry readings by Sabrina and Hibaq Osman alongside improvised musical responses from Multi-Story musicians cellist Abel Salacoe and violinist Fra Rustumji.
