Artists from The Music Works’ UPSURGE programme collaborate with The Multi-Story Orchestra musicians Fra Rustumji and Abel Selaocoe to create a series of new pieces, fusing genres such as Hip Hop, R’n’B, Pop, Rap and Spoken Word, with Western Classical music.
These concerts take a look at some of the links between pop and minimalist music. From Julius Eastman’s Stay On It to instrumental re-workings of Björk, and arrangements of François Couperin’s enigmatic 18th century keyboard pieces.
