We’re on the lookout for A SAFEGUARDING TRUSTEE!

This is an opportunity for someone with time and willingness to get practically involved in steering the work of our orchestra. 

We are looking for someone with experience as a qualified safeguarding lead to join our board. Ideal candidates will have at least 2 years’ experience as a Designated Safeguarding Lead/Officer (or equivalent) in a charity or equivalent professional organisation.

This role will have a specific focus on advising, managing and supporting our team with our safeguarding strategy.

What do you need to know?
While safeguarding is the responsibility of everyone in our organisation, we are looking for an experienced safeguarding lead to support our trustees and staff in their work.

The role is voluntary although we will cover expenses and provide induction, training, and other support as needed.

Our trustees attend board meetings 4 times a year, as well as providing support to our team when needed. Trustees can be based anywhere and we will cover expenses for travel to attend meetings and events. 

Responsibilities and Duties

- Work alongside our Designated Safeguarding Lead to ensure our organisation is adhering to government guidance and standards for safeguarding at all times.

- Available at key points in the year to consult with and support our Designated Safeguarding Lead and provide support to staff and fellow trustees in safeguarding matters.

- Support the team to ensure all documentation, checks and strategies are accurately recorded and updated as necessary.

- Provide feedback to our board on safeguarding at trustee meetings.

- Make sure there is an annual review of safeguarding policies.

- Contribute to the creation of a risk register for our organisation and ensure it accurately reflects our work.

- Support fellow trustees in developing their own understanding of safeguarding.
